⑴ The credit crisis has taken many barons of Wall Street（and their $10,000 suits）to the cleaners. Who, though, has suffered the biggest losses? One way to get at that question is to look at leaders of the hardest-hit companies, and how much the value of their inhouse shares has fallen from recent peaks. We asked Insiderscore.com, which tracks executives’ trades in the stock of their own companies, for the number of shares held by some Wall Street titans, and then crunched the numbers to see how far they’ve fallen.

⑵ If you’re lucky enough to figure among the alumni of the University of Oxford, you’re likely to have heard the news: your place of learning needs cash. Lots of it. In late May, Oxford launched the most ambitious fund-raising drive ever undertaken by a European university, aimed at boosting its coffers by at least $2.5 billion. The eager among you have chipped in already－helping Oxford to more than $1 billion so far－but there are many that haven’t. Still need convincing? “The task before us is to guarantee Oxford’s future pre-eminence,” announced Vivien Duffield, chairman of the campaign, “in a world now changing so fast that we must lead or fall behind.”

⑶ The spectacular “Water Cube＂－the bubblelike Beijing Olympic swimming venue－ has been praised for its architecture, but it bears an even more unusual distinction. The $150 million structure was financed entirely by the 40 million to 50 million members of the worldwide Chinese diaspora. Contributors included Lie Cho Hui, an Indonesian national in Jakarta, who forked over $100 in exchange for a certificate from Beijing confirming his donation. “Although I am 100 percent Indonesian, I’m very proud of the Games,” Lie says. “After all, I share the same blood with those people, the same culture.”
